1) What sort of disc is it?
2) What/who is your target, if any?
3) How hard do you intend to throw it?
4) Is there any particularly important information on the disc?

All issues must be considered before a judgement can be rendered.

hick v redneck? well as a Hillbilly, I believe I am authorized to contribute. The distinctions are not as clearly cut as gook vs nerd; but I think I can put some sense into it.

Hick is rural
Redneck is rural and development
Hillbilly is very rural
(I always thought that hicks were in the woods of the areas that rednecks inhabit)

Hicks are poor
Rednecks are middle class
hillbillies are a mostly poor Aristocratic social culture

Hicks are forest (I think)
Rednecks are agriculture
Hillbillies are hills and mountains

Hicks are ignorant
Rednecks are opinionated
Hillbillies are both

Rednecks listen to country
Hillbillies and hicks(?) listen to mountain music

Rednecks are normally with the times (class and location)
While hillbillies normally are not.
Hicks might be.

Hicks are independent
Rednecks are nuclear family
Hillbillies are clans

Of course, a lot has to do with self identification, and stereotypes never apply to everyone; understand i identify my culture, not myself. And of course, I could be very wrong, should you ask someone else.

Hicks and Rednecks often share the same habitat (agricultural communities near game bearing forests).

You can differentiate the two as the rednecks are drunker and spend more time shooting things.

The hicks still shoot things, and blow stuff up for kicks, they just don't make a whole lifestyle out of it.

You can be born a hick, but a redneck is something you grow up to be. My mother didn't raise me to be a soppy, redneck mud-bogger, who does nothing but sit in a duck blind drinking beer all day. (Anyone who intends to defend the practice of mud-bogging should know right now that I'm dogmatic and mean about this one.)

Sure, it's a fine and honorable thing to hunt animals for food, but you got to have some class about it. Respect the lives of the things you kill, and never carry a fire-arm when you're sloshed.
It's a matter of attitude. Sure we're rural, but that doesn't mean we're stupid or ignorant (though we do tend to be badly educated).

--at least, that's how we define them out here. I honestly can't speak for other dialects, and there is the whole quantum theory of word meanings (words are like electrons, in that they only probably occupy a given point, in a given situation) to consider.
