3/4 of the way through?

Postby DoctorWho » Sun Aug 23, 2015 8:53 pm

I seem to remember somewhere in the forums that Tailsteak plans to conclude Leftover Soup when he gets to 1000. If this is the case then it is nearly 75% complete. Is this correct and if so, do you have any plans for a new strip?

Yep, we're three quarters of the way through, and since Tailsteak is a creator, he's probably going to keep making comics and other things like this until the day he dies.

It's still another 18 months (give or take) until we hit 1,000.

If Tailsteak were getting more revenue from the comic, he'd probably keep it going and make it a full-time job.

If I counted correctly (and I could have easily made a mistake), the 1000th comic will be Monday, April 1st, 2017.

I don’t expect an April Fools’ comic as the last one, but I wouldn’t be terribly surprised.

I don't know, is Tailsteak the sort of person who'd spend hours every evening over a six-year period just for the sake of an April Fool's joke?

(The answer: Of course it's not just for the sake of an April Fool's joke.)

Personally, I take a bit of an in cauda venemum approach to speculation on the end. An april fool's joke seems like an appropriate ending under this predictive model.

"Poison in the tail"... so you think the ending will be the most tragic bit?

No, I just think it's going to be the worst bit. Whether it be because of tragedy most tearful, comedy most mirthful, or shittiness most shitty, I fully expect it to be distinct from the rest of Leftover Soup. Either because it was the most powerful bit or because it was the weakest bit, and given that the nature of an April Fool's comic, I'd say that the poison will bring about the death rattle in the form of frustrated groaning.

I would not at all be surprised if we got a joke ending on April 1st and then the real final strip on the next day.

Oh man, I so much want that to be true. But my checking and double-checking with Wolfram Alpha has shown the comic end date to be 10 April 2017. If Tailsteak had only started the comic 9 days earlier (which would also required updating the comic on a Saturday), who knows what could have been?
