Also, now i'm thinking he's telling the truth about being a reperational ethnicity, he's just lying about what is. Maybe he's really a furry.

A veteran, but not a military one? I think either I'm confused, or they are.

If I remember correctly 'veteran' in Starship Troopers (the book) meant simply that you'd served the public. Firefighters and police get anxiety and PTSD as well... Maybe he was a first responder.

They might do a lot of cybernetic warfare, guiding drones and such, which requires a very high data output from brain to machine. Probably some sort of brain computer interface for warfare.
