I guess we are meant to assume that an autofreud has no aversion to being shutdown after successful leading every possible client to a minimal level of social functioning.

"SN"? My guess is that it is a status indicator. Zoa was attempting to assert dominance by suggesting that the autofreud is 2 ranks lower than it.

Any other guesses?

Also, interesting clue about this society where it is received wisdom that properly adjusted humans don't self indulge.

My guess is that it has something to do with their relative Serial Numbers. The way they used it seems to suggest an analog of familial hierarchy: something along the lines of "Hey there, grandpa" and "You're not my granddaughter".

Wow, a bit harsh there, Mr. Dr. Computer-Man.

Humans have been anthropomorphizing machines long before they walked and talked and ██████ like humans.

I'm not sure if -- and ++ are intended as two levels of distance or one. I read it as one, since those are increment and decrement operators in many programming languages, but that seems like a less appropriate reading the more I think about it.

I feel like the most important part of this exchange is the "cocksleeve" pejorative. The use of it implies that either a) AIs experience emotional destabilization resulting in poor decision making(making it difficult to produce a non-hardware delineation between human/AI), or b) Doc's maker believes that the use of pejoratives is psychologically beneficial to its patient(hard to see how, in the context it's delivered).

Of course, there's always option c) Doc's creator deliberately programmed it to use pejoratives for the purposes of denigration. Reasonable if made by a single creator, but implying a high level of societal bigotry if Doc was(as seems most likely) created by a corporate/government entity.

Funny that the "therapist" AI appears to be closer to a freaking dim-witted response-looping chat-bot than the sex-droid.
Likes his women like he likes his coffee... a little sweet, a little spicy, a little strong, a little earthy, a little smokey, totally honest, and maybe a little offended by being compared to a beverage.

I kind of expected Tailsteak to offer an explanation for the "SN--" "SN++" in the commentary block. :|
Maybe he thought what was obvious to him would be obvious to everyone? Really not.
I see some people have guesses.
