But of course, in an enclosed environment, where everything is recycled, that's just one of the points in the system.

I'm hoping the point is that Lee owns themself, and on from there.
Likes his women like he likes his coffee... a little sweet, a little spicy, a little strong, a little earthy, a little smokey, totally honest, and maybe a little offended by being compared to a beverage.

Me too. It could be motivational, could be "see it from a robot's perspective" -- knowing Tailsteak, it might be something I haven't thought of. I am interested to see what, if anything, the fact that these are walking, talking, thinking objects (vending machines) will bring to the comic's ethical explorations beyond the standard robots-are-allegories-for-slaves and "a person's a person no matter how [made of circuitry]" stuff.
