There's a difference between a safety net and a hammock.

One catches people when they fall, and then they get out of it as soon as they can.

The other... they just sort of lie in doing nothing.
Likes his women like he likes his coffee... a little sweet, a little spicy, a little strong, a little earthy, a little smokey, totally honest, and maybe a little offended by being compared to a beverage.

I would rather everyone have at least a hammock than some of the worst off (even "laziest") have to sleep on the floor?

I mean, I never intended to imply that Lee somehow shouldn't be allowed to spend their Basic credits on anything other than necessities.

I suppose some people just prioritize hunks of plastic from tv shows over food.

Then again I don't know how tasty food even is in this world.

Emotionally, morally? Sure, that's a meaningful distinction. From an engineering standpoint, though, when you try to exclude the possibility of being used as a hammock, you're also gonna end up making it a less effective safety net. What's the acceptable ratio of (# innocent people dying from easily treatable or preventable problems)/(# freeloaders successfully deterred) ?
