Preplanning like this is a matter of personal preference. I usually only build my characters at first level (or whatever level we're beginning at), and let them advance organically.

0291-------------------------------------

(Friday afternoon, INT: Overdrive Computers, back room)

EB: Okay, so we increase your charisma to fifteen at eighth level, which will let you take the Press The Advantage feat...
GU: You always plan what feats you'll take this far in advance?
--------------
EB: Well, no plan ever survives first contact with the GM. But yeah, I've got my warlock's progression planned out all the way to thirty. For me, it's just a part of character building. A cool-looking foundation doesn't do me any good if it necessarily builds up into an impractical building.
--------------
GU: One could adopt a similar philosophy towards one's own life, I suppose. Live for what you want to become when you reach your full potential.
EB: Perhaps. Of course, planning to thirty does you no good if your tenth level build can't survive adventuring. And there is something to be said for stopping to smell the roses.
--------------
GU: Roses like a weekly tabletop gaming session?
EB: A bit of a stretched metaphor, but I like it.
LH: What the hell are you guys doing back here, and why the hell are there twelve people lined up at the cash register?
