I'd just like to point out that this is comic #300. If you're reading through the archives at a rate of one comic every fifteen seconds, it'd take you an hour and fifteen minutes to get this far.
Also, I think this provides a nice bookend with strip #150.

0300-------------------------------------
(Saturday morning, INT: MH's apartment)
MH: So you think God is evil?
JH: Of course not. I'm just saying, the concept of it would be the natural result of looking at material wealth and good luck as signs of His favour. It's antiChristian, too. The rain falls on the just and the unjust alike, or something like that.
--------------
MH: So what is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy, then?
JH: For me? You are. Ellen is. People, people liking each other and helping each other and giving each other opportunities and making each other happy when they don't have to. The fact that we as mammals are hardwired, by default, to be nice to each other.
--------------
JH (hug): Whether you're buying me booze, or trying to cheer me up when I'm down, or just sitting and listening to my bullshit, it's you - and people like you - that are proof that God loves me. I'm grateful to God that you're in my life.
MH: And I'm grateful that I have a key to your apartment, and that benzodiazepine doesn't impede the human erectile and orgasmic responses.
