This strip should tell you everything you need to know to play RPS Chess. The only thing missing is starting positions, and I never finalized those. I rather like having rocks in back, scissors in the middle, and paper in front, but you can put'em down wherever you like.

I'm actually really proud of this one - RPS Chess is incredibly fun.

(Friday. INT: apartment)

EB: Okay, so how do we play?
JH: Well, there's eight of each kind of piece. For rocks, think rooks - they move back and forward, left and right, but only up to two squares at a time, and they can't move through things.

JH: Paper, think bibles, which are carried by bishops. Paper moves diagonally - again, only two squares at a time. Scissors are metal and pointy like swords, so they move like knights.

JH: So, on a theoretically empty board, each piece can move to eight different positions. Obviously, only rocks can take scissors, scissors can take paper, et cetera. The game is over when you lose all of one type of piece, so if I take all your rocks, I win.

EB (making a thumb gesture): And where does dynamite factor into all this?
JH: In my experience? When you're playing a ten year old who's about to lose.
