GU (grating cheese): I guess it's kind of like putting different things in a blender, and what comes out isn't the same as what went in. Pizza isn't exactly Italian food any more.
JH: Depends on where you get it.

GU: So... I noticed you said "brought me up"... Max mentioned that you're a Deist...
JH: Yeah, I guess I take the same approach to religion that I do to cooking - take the useful ideas and play around with them, discard any cultural baggage you don't plan on using.

GU: Was there anything in particular that made you leave the church?
JH: Well, it was a Pentecostal church, people were always falling over, speaking in tongues and... and I guess I'm just not susceptible to that.

JH: Plus, one day I sat down and thought about all the sloths.
GU: There's a lot of laziness in Pentecostal churches?
JH: No, sloths the animals.
GU: Alright, evidently Pentecostalism is weirder than I thought...
