On the subject of undercover police, I'm going to go ahead and recommend G.K. Chesterton's The Man Who Was Thursday, in case you haven't already read it. The furry comic Little Tales has a version of it going, if you're into that sort of thing.

Oh, and I'll mention one last time that the girl with the dragon tattoo, currently exiting stage right, is the recipient of the 2014 New Year's contest first prize. Perhaps it's just as well she's on her way out, things are getting pretty tense in the foreground, here.

(Friday afternoon, INT: Funky Harvest)

JH: So if you were to do an undercover thing... like a deep, longterm investigation... you couldn't still be on the payroll, could you? How would they handle that?
ChA: Well, they'd just hold your paychecks for you, I guess, for however long you were undercover.
JH: So... like a fake firing?
--------------
ChA: Are... are you somehow under the impression that I might be undercover right now?
JH: Would it do me any good to ask if you are?
ChA: That's ludicrous! What possible reason would I have for doing something like that?
--------------
JH: Are you still under the impression that I had something to do with the death of Richard Knight?
ChA: Would it do me any good to ask if you did?
