This idea - that we are responsible for each other - is an ongoing, evolving thing with Jamie. He is learning and growing, and will have to learn and grow some more before Leftover Soup is done.

(Thursday afternoon, INT: Capsaicin Lounge kitchen)

JH: I guess I believe that all human beings, regardless of how guilty or depraved, can change. As long as there's breath in your body, you still have the opportunity to turn things around, to still pull out a net positive.
JH: To flip from asshole to bitch, if you will.
ChA: ...are you trying to convince me that killing people is bad? Because... I'm already on that team. I'm the one trying to tell you not to kill people.
JH: I don't know. I'm not sure that I'm trying to convince anyone of anything any more. Maybe I'm trying to convince myself that I can still... do something good in relation to this whole Richard Knight thing.
ChA: I don't see how.
JH: Well, neither do I. Yet. But I can't help feeling I have a responsibility to try. I choose to be my brother's keeper.
ChA: Jamie, you have a weird martyr complex. If I were you, I'd seek psychiatric help.
JH: Well, if I were you, I wouldn't try fixing me. This martyr complexity is the reason you have a job.
